How to reach the " Faculté des Sciences " ?

The "Faculté des Sciences" is located in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy (south part of Nancy), few kilometres from the town centre, in the neighbourhood of Villers-lès-Nancy and Brabois (see map #2).


Bus services (organised by ECM-19)

Morning bus service

A free bus service will be available for all participants accommodated in all the hotels reserved through the Palais des Congrès (except university dormitories which are at a walking distance from the campus where the meeting takes place, see map #2).

Buses will leave each morning around 8 a.m. to arrive on time at the Meeting place (Faculté des Sciences, Vandoeuvre). More information about bus schedules will be available on the hotel billboards.

There will be no free bus service from the campus to the hotels at the end of each meeting day (Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th, Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th). Frequent public transport buses can be taken near the faculty (bus stop "Vélodrome", see map #2):
n° 4, 19 and 7 to the town centre (direction "Point Central),
n°4 (direction "CHU Brabois") to the hotels located in "Brabois",
n°30A (direction "Champ le Bœuf") to the Novotel Nancy Ouest and Villages hotel,
n°30B (direction "Nancy Haut du Lièvre") to the Mister Bed hotel.

Magnetic cards valid for 10 trips can be purchased (= 52.5 FF) at tobacco shops. Single tickets can also be purchased in the bus (= 7.50 FF).

Evening bus service

For all conferees who are staying in hotels outside the city centre (Cottage, Ibis Brabois, Videotel Brabois, Mister Bed, Novotel Nancy ouest, Villages Hôtels) and at the university dormitories (Charmois, Placieux, Montplaisir), buses will leave from "place Carrière" near "Place Stanislas" (see map #1) at 10.30 pm, 11.30 pm and 00.30 am on Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th, Monday 28th (excursion day) and Tuesday 29th August. After that time, taxis are available (phone number: 03 83 37 65 37, less than 100 FF).

On Friday 25th, departures of the buses will be from the "Palais des Congrès" (see "Opening ceremony") to the outside city hotels.
On Wednesday 30th, departure from Lunéville directly to all the hotels and dormitories (see "Wednesday banquet").


Car Parks

For people driving to the "Faculté des Sciences", more than 1000 free car parks are available, near the amphiteathers.


Where to eat ?

Lunch

Attendees who have bought lunch tickets will have their lunch at the University Restaurant, at a walking distance from the "Faculté des Sciences" (see map #2). ECM Special lunches are prepared by the "Chef" M. Vincent of the University Restaurant.

Participants who have not reserved lunch tickets yet can still buy some at the ECM-19 reception desk at the "Faculté des Sciences".

There are almost no restaurant at a walking distance from the "Faculté des Sciences", therefore we recommend to the participants to buy lunch tickets…

Dinner

Excellent restaurants can be found down town (menu from 60 F~10 € to 500F~90 €).

"Student" dinner are also served at the University restaurant for about 30 F (~5 €) drinks not included, from 7 pm to 8 pm.

E-mail room

Several computers are at the attendees'disposal, in room "TP 31", where "telnet", "ftp"…connections are available. This computer room will be open from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm every day, except on the excursion day (Monday August 28th). A computing engineer will be present during the opening hours for help. For laptop computers, several network plugs (RJ45, DHCP configuration) are also available.


Meeting Rooms

All lecture rooms in the exhibition hall and poster areas will be opened (chairs, tables, blackboards and chalks available) for meeting and/or informal discussions.

Conference venue

Registrations and the opening Ceremony will take place at the Palais des Congrès of Nancy (conference centre) while the other events of the Meeting will be held at the “Faculté des Sciences” of Nancy.

The Palais des Congrès is five minutes walking distance from the train station (gare in French).

The “Faculté des Sciences” is easily reached by Bus. Bus lines n° 4, 7 & 19 link the train station (gare) downtown to the Science Faculty (bus stop Velodrome). Magnetic cards valid for 10 trips can be purchased (= 51 FF) at tobacco shops. Single tickets can also be purchased in the bus (= 7.50 FF).

 




Travel Agency

A travel agency counter will be open on the Ground floor of the Exhibition Hall at the "Faculté des Sciences", everyday except on Sunday August 27th and excursion day. See opening hours in the Exhibition Hall


Language

The conference language is English.



Visas

The non European community participants are invited to check if they meet the visa requirements for their entry in France. The chair of the Meeting will be pleased to write a personal letter of invitation for an individual scientist on request. This invitation letter will be only provided to assist with travel arrangements (visas…) and will exclude any financial commitment with the Organisers or any reduction to the conference fees.


Climate and Clothing

The average day time temperature in Nancy in late August is between 18° and 28°Celsius but a premature entry into autumn is not to be excluded…


Currency

Local currency is the French Franc (FF) :
   1 Euro = 6,56 FF.
    1 FF = 0,15 Euro.
